Bilan Carbone 2023: Enygea strengthens its commitment to a greener future

At Enygea, our commitment to CSR is at the heart of our priorities.
By carrying out our 2023 carbon footprint, we have accurately measured our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to better guide our actions in favor of the ecological transition.

What is a Bilan Carbone®?

The carbon footprint is a method developed by ADEME (the French Environment and Energy Management Agency) to assess the GHG emissions generated by an activity. This diagnosis is based on three scopes:

Scope 1: direct emissions (from fuel combustion, for example).

Scope 2: indirect emissions linked to energy consumption (electricity, heating, etc.).

Scope 3: other indirect emissions, such as those resulting from business travel, purchasing and the transport of goods.

In 2022, we laid the foundations by carrying out our first carbon assessment with an essential saddle.
In 2023, we consolidated the data for better consideration in order to refine our analysis and gain experience for our 4 subsidiaries concerned. This new scope will enable us to better integrate our actions and act effectively to reduce our carbon footprint.

Key figures for our 2023 carbon footprint

Enygea: 542 tonnes of CO₂/year (+79.5% compared with 2022, which stood at 302 T CO₂).

WC Loc: 9,306 tonnes of CO₂/year (+6.5% compared with 2022, which stood at 8,741 T CO₂).

HAPPEE Services : 1,055 tonnes of CO₂/year (-33.3% compared with 2022, which stood at 1,582 T CO₂).

WATERLAB Services: 204 tonnes of CO₂/year (-64% compared with 2022, which stood at 547 T CO₂).

For our 4 subsidiaries combined: in 2022, the result was 11,168 tonnes of CO₂.
In 2023, it will be 11,107 tonnes of CO₂.

In relation to our 350 employees, this represents 31.37 tonnes of CO2 per employee.
Now that we know this, our aim is to improve and reduce these emissions as much as possible.

An encouraging first step

Compared with the previous year, we reduced our overall emissions by 0.6%. This may not seem like much progress, but it is significant for a constantly improving trajectory.

In collaboration with GENEO, we have integrated ambitious objectives into our strategic axis n°2: Reduce our carbon footprint and that of our customers:

  • 4.2% reduction in Scopes 1 and 2 emissions by 2024 (compared with 2023).
  • 7% reduction in our Scope 3 carbon intensity over the same period.

Concrete actions to achieve our goals

To reduce our carbon footprint, we are implementing innovative and ambitious initiatives:

  • Rationalization of routes: optimize travel to reduce the number of kilometers traveled.
  • Decarbonizing our vehicle fleet: integrating electric or hybrid vehicles.
  • Installing electric charging stations: promoting more sustainable mobility.
  • Waste recovery: giving new life to our equipment and recovering urine through our partnership with TOOPI Organics
  • Renovating buildings: prioritizing energy efficiency in our infrastructures.

These projects are part of a global decarbonization strategy, while maintaining impeccable service quality for our customers.

A long-term commitment: -30% target by 2030

This second carbon audit marks a turning point in our environmental approach.
By identifying our main sources of emissions, we are now better prepared to reinforce our action plans. Our ambitious goal: to reduce our emissions by 30% by 2030.
